
Chief Financial Officer

Asia Community Foundation (ACF) is the first Asia-wide platform for collaborative and strategic giving. We enable donors to pool resources, co-create solutions, and drive positive social and environmental impact across the region. As we expand our donor base and manage a growing portfolio of donor-advised funds (DAFs), impact funds, and bespoke giving vehicles, we are strengthening our financial leadership to steward philanthropic capital with the highest standards of accountability, transparency, and impact.
ACF is seeking an experienced and strategic Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead the financial strategy, treasury management, and governance of the organisation. This role combines oversight of long-term financial planning with hands-on responsibility for cash management, FX management, and risk controls. The CFO will serve as a trusted partner to the CEO, COO, Finance Committee, and Board—ensuring ACF is well-positioned to deliver on its mission and scale sustainably.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Leadership and Strategy
- Provide strategic financial leadership to support ACF’s growth and long-term sustainability
- Oversee development of financial policies, annual budgets, forecasts, and scenario models
- Ensure strong internal controls, accounting standards, and compliance with regulatory requirements across jurisdictions
- Guide and oversee the annual audit process
Treasury and Cash Flow Management
- Manage cash flow forecasts, funding requirements, and liquidity planning across multi-currency inflows and outflows
- Optimise fund flows for DAFs, pooled funds, and bespoke giving vehicles, ensuring accuracy and timely allocations
- Implement and monitor FX risk management strategies, including matching, hedging, and currency exposure planning
- Lead and maintain strategic relationships with ACF’s banking partners and other financial institutions to optimise liquidity, secure cost-effective funding, and ensure reliable execution of treasury operations. Serve as the primary executive contact for cash management services, and banking negotiations
- Safeguard against financial risks such as fraud, theft, and counterparty risk
Investment Oversight and Governance
- Oversee prudent management of ACF’s cash reserves and philanthropic funds in line with Investment Committee-approved policies
- Optimise liquidity and returns through safe, low-risk instruments (e.g., money market accounts, fixed deposits), ensuring compliance with nonprofit investment policies and a focus on capital preservation and responsible growth
- Manage relationships with external investment consultants, advisors, managers, custodians, and financial institutions, providing strategic direction, evaluating performance, negotiating terms, and ensuring adherence to risk, return, and compliance objectives
- Provide transparent reporting to the Finance and Investment Committees on balances, yields, and risk control
Board, Committee and Stakeholder Engagement
- Actively engage with the Finance and Investment Committees to support transparent, informed decision-making
- Provide financial dashboards, KPIs, and scenario planning to Management and the Board to strengthen oversight
- Communicate and manage complex financial issues in clear and actionable terms to diverse stakeholders, including donors, financial institutions, and external consultants and managers
Organisational and Team Development
- Lead and mentor the Finance team, building internal capacity and supporting professional growth
- Develop and maintain financial systems and processes that enhance efficiency, accountability, and donor confidence
- Work closely with the CEO and senior team to align financial strategy with organisational objectives
Experience and Skills:
- 15+ years of senior experience in finance, treasury, investment management, or nonprofit financial leadership
- Prior experience with philanthropic capital, donor-advised funds, endowment management, or multi-jurisdictional finance preferred
- CPA, CFA, or equivalent professional qualification strongly preferred
- Demonstrated expertise in treasury and FX management, including risk mitigation and fraud prevention
- Proven track record working with boards, committees, auditors, and external advisors.
- Strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills; ability to influence at senior levels
- International working experience, ideally with exposure to Asian markets
